What was
a young lady to do?
Emma's stepmama wanted a titled son-in-law.
Emma wanted to remain a spinster, managing the family's
estate. Fortunately, it seemed she need do nothing, for
her stepmama assumed that dressing Emma as a Maypole and
pursuing noblemen with a horrifying ferocity would ensure
results. Emma had no doubt that all the gentleman would
be frightened away.
She was mortified to receive a proposal from
one of the most sought-after men in England. If Richard
Fairfax was pleased with her appearance and her family,
Emma was certain she wanted nothing to do with him.
But there was more to Richard than Emma expected
and
that discerning gentleman could see there was more to Emma
than being Mama's disappointment. Could he win her heart
and her hand?
